The November newsletter is here! Your MUA committee has been busy. I’ll highlight our activities below:
Vacant committee positions filled
As announced a couple of weeks ago (https://moodleassociation.org/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=748#p2682), Orzu Kamalova stepped down from her committee position due to work responsibilities. That left a committee vacancy and the Treasurer position open. I am pleased to announce that we have filled both.
Gavin Henrick has stepped forward to fill the Treasurer position. Gavin has been a Moodler for many years, even working for HQ for a while. He will be a welcome addition to the officers of the MUA.
The vacant position on the committee will be filled by Gemma Lesterhuis. Gemma has been an active member of the MUA since 2016, contributing five proposals including the “My course - dashboard” proposal which is now part of Moodle. She will be a great addition to the committee!

Moodle 3.9 project
While behind schedule, the SOW’s for the two proposals for the 3.9 project cycle have been presented to the MUA committee by HQ. Negotiations are currently in progress to bring these proposals to life. Stay tuned!
In order to better manage our operation and stay organized, the committee has acquired licenses for Teamwork. Teamwork is a task and project management application, that is cloud based. We hope to be able to better keep on top of things, through group task management. We have committed to a year of use, and we will evaluate its effectiveness as we go. So far, things are looking good!
We now have a new agreement in place to host our MUA Moodle site. Over the next months, we will get it upgraded to the latest Moodle, and work on improving the flow of information within the site. Look for changes coming soon.
In the news…
Past Chair, and current committee member, Richard Samson, was interviewed by moodle.com in October. For the full interview, go to https://moodle.com/news/interview-with-standing-down-mua-chair-richard-samson/.
Moodlemoot Global 2019 is fast approaching. The MUA marketing team has been busy preparing for our presence there. We will have a stand available, where you can come and discuss any issues with one of the present committee members, get some swag, or just hang out. We hope to attract many new members.
In closing, I will dangle a teaser. Moodlemoot Global 2019 will be the venue to announce some exciting changes to the MUA. I hope you will be able to join us!
